Terms of Service
Last updated: June 14, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the website dddmaps.com and the DDD Maps service (the "Service"), operated by Sjödin Media ("DDD Maps", "we", "us", or "our").
By creating an account, subscribing to a paid plan or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The Service
DDD Maps is a web-based tool that generates 3D map animations, including animations based on GPX tracks, route data, map locations and other route or location information that you upload or provide.
The Service may allow you to create previews, export MP4 videos, use map styles, add route statistics and access other map-animation features.
We offer a free tier and one or more paid subscription plans.
DDD Maps is not a permanent storage, backup or hosting service for GPX files, route data or generated videos.
We may add, change or remove features from time to time. If a material change negatively affects paying subscribers, we will try to give reasonable advance notice where practical and where required by applicable law.
2. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, to use a paid plan or enter into these Terms.
Accounts are created and managed through our provider Outseta. You are responsible for:
- providing accurate registration and billing information;
- keeping your login credentials secure;
- keeping your account information up to date;
- all activity that occurs under your account.
Notify us promptly at contact@dddmaps.com if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.
3. Free tier, paid plans and trials
Free tier
The free tier is provided at no cost and may include limitations, including watermarks, quality limits, usage limits, export limits, feature limits or other restrictions. We may change the limits of the free tier at any time.
Paid plans
Paid plans unlock additional features as described on our pricing page or at checkout at the time of purchase. Paid features may include removal of the DDD Maps watermark, higher-quality MP4 export, additional styles, route statistics or other PRO features.
Free trials
We may offer free trials for paid plans. Unless otherwise stated at checkout, a free trial automatically converts into a paid subscription at the end of the trial period unless you cancel before the trial ends.
The trial length, price, billing period, renewal terms and applicable taxes will be shown at checkout.
4. Billing, renewals and cancellation
Payments are processed through Outseta and its payment processor Stripe.
Pricing and currency are shown at checkout. Prices may be exclusive of applicable taxes, including VAT or similar taxes, which may be added where required.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period, monthly or annual, at the then-current price unless you cancel before the renewal date.
You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account/profile settings or by contacting us at contact@dddmaps.com.
Cancellation stops future renewals. Unless required by applicable law, fees already paid for the current billing period are non-refundable and you retain access until the end of the paid period.
If you are a consumer covered by mandatory Norwegian, EU or EEA consumer law, you may have additional cancellation, refund, withdrawal or statutory remedy rights that cannot be limited by these Terms.
Where required by applicable Norwegian consumer law for ongoing digital services, we or our account/billing provider will send periodic reminders that the subscription is active and may be cancelled.
We may change subscription prices. Price changes apply to the next billing cycle, and we will give reasonable advance notice where required by applicable law.
If a payment fails, we may suspend, downgrade or restrict access to paid features until payment is resolved.
5. Right of withdrawal for EU/EEA consumers
If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA, you may have a statutory right to withdraw from a distance contract within 14 days, subject to exceptions under applicable law.
If you expressly request that we begin providing the digital service during the withdrawal period, you acknowledge that you may be required to pay a proportionate amount for the service provided before withdrawal, where permitted by law.
For digital content or a completed digital service supplied immediately, your right of withdrawal may be lost only where applicable law allows this and where you have given the required express consent and acknowledgement.
To exercise a right of withdrawal, contact us at contact@dddmaps.com with a clear statement that you wish to withdraw.
Nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory withdrawal, refund, cancellation or consumer remedies available under applicable law.

6. Your Content
"Your Content" means GPX files, route data, location data, coordinates, waypoints, names, text, files, settings and other content or information that you upload, submit or provide through the Service.
You retain all ownership rights in Your Content.
By uploading or providing Your Content, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to host, process, transmit, render, transform and use Your Content solely as necessary to provide the Service to you, including to generate previews, animations, MP4 exports and related output.
This licence is limited to operating and providing the Service. We do not claim ownership of Your Content and do not use Your Content for advertising.
You represent and warrant that:
- you have the necessary rights to upload and use Your Content;
- Your Content does not infringe the rights of any third party;
- Your Content does not violate applicable law;
- your use of the Service and Output complies with these Terms and applicable third-party terms.
7. Temporary exports, preview links and download links
Generated exports are temporary.
Server-rendered MP4 files, preview links, download links, temporary render data and access tokens are provided for convenience and are normally deleted automatically within approximately 12 hours.
Download and preview links may contain access tokens. Anyone with a valid link may be able to access the export until the link or file expires. You are responsible for keeping such links private if the content is sensitive.
DDD Maps is not responsible for storing, backing up or preserving your GPX files, route data, settings or generated videos. You should download and store any Output you wish to keep.
8. Output and intellectual property
"Output" means animations, videos, screenshots, previews, exports or other media generated through the Service.
Subject to these Terms and to the terms of our third-party providers, you may use Output for personal or commercial purposes.
You are responsible for ensuring that your use of Output complies with applicable law, third-party rights and third-party provider terms.
Map data, terrain data, routing data and related services may come from Mapbox, OpenStreetMap, OpenRouteService, Overpass API or other mapping data sources. Output may be subject to attribution requirements, licence terms and usage restrictions from those providers.
Where attribution is required, including Mapbox and OpenStreetMap attribution, you must keep it visible and intact.
The Service itself, including its software, design, interface, branding, website content, DDD Maps name and logo, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights in the Service other than the right to use it as permitted here.
9. Third-party services
The Service relies on third-party providers, including Outseta, Stripe, Mapbox, OpenRouteService, OpenStreetMap-related services, Nominatim, Overpass API, Google services, Web3Forms and hosting providers.
Your use of certain features may be subject to those providers' own terms, policies, attribution requirements, rate limits and technical limitations.
We are not responsible for the acts, omissions, outages, data practices, pricing changes or terms of third-party providers, except where applicable law provides otherwise.
Third-party services may change or discontinue functionality, which may affect the Service.
10. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of applicable law;
- upload, process or generate content that you do not have the right to use;
- upload, process or generate content that infringes intellectual property rights, privacy rights, publicity rights or other third-party rights;
- use the Service to create, process or distribute illegal, harmful, abusive, harassing, defamatory, deceptive or otherwise unlawful content;
- attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, overload, disrupt, attack or gain unauthorised access to the Service;
- bypass, disable or interfere with security, access-control, rate-limiting or payment systems;
- resell, sublicense or commercially exploit the Service itself without our written permission;
- misuse the Service in a way that harms us, other users, third parties or infrastructure providers.
We may suspend or terminate accounts, refuse processing, remove access to temporary files or disable links that violate these rules or applicable law.
11. Illegal content and rights complaints
If you believe that content generated, uploaded, stored, linked or shared through the Service is illegal, infringes intellectual property rights or violates these Terms, you may notify us at contact@dddmaps.com.
Your notice should include:
- a clear explanation of why the content is illegal, infringing or otherwise problematic;
- the exact URL, export link, file identifier or other information needed to identify the content;
- your name and email address, unless anonymous reporting is legally protected or appropriate in the circumstances;
- a statement that the information in your notice is accurate.
We may remove, disable access to, refuse to process or preserve information relating to content where we reasonably believe it violates these Terms or applicable law, or where we are required to do so by law.
We will review notices without undue delay and will inform the reporting person of our decision where required by applicable law.
Where we remove or disable access to content, we may provide the affected user with a brief explanation of the decision, unless doing so would be unlawful, create security risks or interfere with an investigation.
12. Service availability
We aim to keep the Service available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.
The Service may be unavailable due to maintenance, updates, outages, third-party service failures, rate limits, security incidents or technical problems.
We may modify, suspend or discontinue features from time to time. If a material change negatively affects paying subscribers, we will try to provide reasonable notice where practical and where required by applicable law.
13. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.
We do not guarantee that:
- the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure;
- generated Output will meet your specific requirements;
- map data, route data, terrain data, elevation data, travel times, distances or generated animations will be accurate or complete;
- third-party mapping, routing, payment, account or analytics services will always be available.
You are responsible for verifying the accuracy and suitability of any Output before using it, especially for commercial, public, safety-related or professional purposes.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any rights you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
14. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages;
- we are not liable for loss of profits, revenue, goodwill, business opportunity, data or content;
- we are not liable for failure to store or preserve GPX files, route data, temporary exports or generated videos;
- our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or, if you use only the free tier, a nominal amount.
These limitations do not apply to liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including liability for intent, gross negligence, fraud or death or personal injury caused by negligence.
For consumers, these limitations apply only to the extent permitted by mandatory consumer law.
15. Consumer rights and digital service remedies
If you are a consumer, nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory rights you may have under applicable consumer law, including rights relating to:
- withdrawal;
- cancellation;
- refunds;
- conformity of digital services;
- non-performance;
- defective digital services;
- statutory remedies;
- required updates;
- price reductions;
- termination rights.
If you believe the paid Service is defective or not provided as agreed, contact us at contact@dddmaps.com so we can investigate and, where applicable, provide a remedy required by law.
16. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, losses, damages, liabilities and expenses arising from:
- your misuse of the Service;
- your violation of these Terms;
- Your Content or Output;
- your infringement of third-party rights;
- your violation of applicable law.
This section does not apply to consumers to the extent it would be prohibited by mandatory consumer law.
17. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time.
We may suspend, restrict or terminate your access if:
- you breach these Terms;
- you fail to pay fees when due;
- we are required to do so by law;
- your use creates security, legal, technical or operational risk;
- continuing to provide the Service is no longer reasonably viable.
On termination, your right to use the Service ends.
Temporary files, exports, links and access tokens may be deleted or expire automatically.
Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including ownership, third-party terms, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, governing law and dispute provisions.
18. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time.
When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate or required by law, notify you in advance.
For paid subscribers, material changes that negatively affect your rights or use of the Service will apply from the next renewal period where required by applicable law, unless the change is required sooner for legal, security or technical reasons.
Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
19. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Norway, except where mandatory consumer law requires otherwise.
If you use the Service as a business or professional user, disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the Norwegian courts, with Midtre Hålogaland tingrett, rettssted Narvik, as the agreed legal venue.
If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer-law provisions of the country where you reside. You may also have the right to bring disputes before the courts or dispute-resolution bodies available under mandatory law in your country of residence.
The former EU Online Dispute Resolution platform was discontinued on 20 July 2025 and is no longer available.
